THE SERPENT CHALICES

There are vessels… and then there are chalices.

These are handmade ceramic goblets I found during a recent antiquing wander. I never shop with a list. I move slowly. I listen. Some pieces sit quietly on shelves.

Others hum.

These three hummed!

Deep blue. Forest green. Burgundy wine.

Thrown by hand, weighty in the palm, imperfect in the way only something truly crafted can be. The glaze pools and shifts with water, moss, dried wine, dark soil. They feel like they have already witnessed ritual.

Before anything touched them, they were thoroughly washed, smoke-cleared, and ritually cleansed. I am meticulous with vintage vessels. I do not simply “repurpose.” I prepare. I release stagnant imprint. I honour what remains.

Then I poured natural wax into them uncoloured, undistracted, elemental so as not to detract from their timeless beauty  

And crowned each with a coiled serpent:

Serpent as guardian of the threshold.

Serpent as keeper of wisdom.

Serpent as shedding and renewal.

Serpent as contained power resting within a vessel.

From above, they appear almost asleep; coiled, centered, waiting. A chalice is a symbol of devotion, offering, and sacred containment. The serpent is life force. Together, they become alchemical: vessel and current.

These are one-of-a-kind antique finds.

They will not be recreated.

When they are gone, they are gone.

I am always watching for pieces that carry weight and objects that feel like they have lived. Things that respond when worked with consciously. Items that choose their next keeper.

These goblets found me.

Now they are available for those who feel called to work with their energy.
