HEKATE’S DIEPNON
A Monthly Dark Moon Rite of Release

There is a moment each month when the moon disappears from the sky.

The old cycle has ended, yet the new one has not yet begun.

It is a liminal place. A threshold. A crossroads.

In ancient Greece, this night was known as the Diepnon, a sacred observance dedicated to Hekate, Keeper of the Keys, Torchbearer, and Guardian of the Crossroads. Offerings were made, homes were cleansed, and burdens from the previous month were laid down before stepping into the next.

This is the spirit in which I offer this monthly rite.

You do not need to be a devotee of Hekate to participate.

You need only arrive willing to release what has become too heavy to carry.

Together, we will gather beneath the dark moon and journey to the crossroads. Through guided ritual, we will surrender the fears, wounds, attachments, habits, and energies that have completed their purpose and no longer belong upon our path.

Yet the Diepnon is not only about release.

It is also about listening.

In the silence that follows surrender, when the road behind you has been cleared and the road ahead has not yet revealed itself, Hekate often speaks.

Not always with words, but through symbols, visions, memories, sensations, revelations, and truths that rise from the depths of the soul.

During this rite, participants will be invited to receive a personal message from Hekate herself—an insight, a key, a warning, a blessing, or a truth that is ready to be revealed.

For some, it may be gentle.

For others, transformative.

But it is often precisely the message that is needed before the next chapter begins.

Each month we will gather at the crossroads.

Each month we will lay down what cannot follow us forward.

And each month, beneath the dark moon, we will wait for the Torchbearer to speak.
