Since the earliest days of the village wise woman, balms and salves have been among the most treasured preparations of the herbal apothecary. They soothe the flesh, but they have also long been crafted to ward away harmful influences, strengthen the spirit, and carry the virtues of the plants into both the seen and unseen bodies.
Many of the botanicals found within these preparations are lovingly grown and harvested from my own apothecary garden, while others are carefully sourced for their medicinal properties, magical correspondences, and longstanding place within the witch's materia magica. Each balm is handcrafted in small batches using slow-infused botanicals, nourishing oils, pure essential oils, and natural waxes.
Within the traditions of witchcraft, every plant possesses its own spirit, virtues, and intelligence. Throughout every stage of the creation process, I intentionally invoke, welcome, and work in partnership with the spirit of each individual plant, calling upon its presence to awaken the preparation and impart its unique essence. This communion between witch and plant lies at the heart of the old apothecary traditions, where the deepest healing arises not only from the physical properties of the herb, but also from the relationship cultivated with its spirit.
Once complete, every balm is ritually consecrated with a specific magical intention before it leaves my hands. Whether used for healing, protection, grounding, blessing, or spiritual restoration, these preparations are created to care not only for the physical skin, but also for the subtle bodies that surround us.
In witchcraft, anointing the body has always been an act of magick. With every application, you are clothing yourself in the virtues of the plants, walking in partnership with their spirits, and carrying their blessing and protection long after the ritual has ended.
