You may set photographs, heirlooms or meaningful objects nearby. Their place will be prepared as carefully as your own, with a plate, a drink and a portion of the meal you have made.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIf there is a food they loved, a family recipe they prepared, a particular drink they enjoyed, or simply something that carries their memory, you may choose to include it.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBecause on this night, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewe are not simply remembering them. We are setting a place for them.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTogether, we will open sacred space, call upon the elements and honour the threshold of Samhain. We will acknowledge those whose names we know, those whose names have been forgotten, the ancestors of blood and lineage, and the beloved dead whose presence continues to live within us.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd then the speaking will stop.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe will enter the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSilent Supper\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEach of us, in our own homes yet gathered together in ritual, will sit at our tables and eat our meals in silence.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNo conversation.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNo distractions.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNo need to fill the stillness.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe simply eat.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe remember.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe listen.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe allow whatever wishes to arise :  memories, emotions, sensations, images, knowing, or perhaps simply the profound experience of sharing a meal in silence with those who are no longer physically seated beside us.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere is nothing you are required to experience.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe silence itself is the offering.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhen our supper has ended, I will gently bring us back together to honour what has unfolded, give thanks to our ancestors and beloved dead, and formally close the ritual and sacred space.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA DIFFERENT KIND OF RITUAL\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eUnlike my other ritual offerings, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Silent Supper of Samhain will take place live. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou will be invited to prepare your own sacred table and meal beforehand so that, when we gather, hundreds of kilometres may separate our tables yet we will enter the same ritual together.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFor those who cannot attend at the scheduled time, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ethe ritual will also be recorded\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, allowing you to create your Silent Supper privately at a time that feels right for
